Harvest Road Opens New State-of-the-Art Rendering Facility in Harvey WA

Harvest Road Group has officially opened a new, state‑of‑the‑art rendering facility at its Harvey processing site, supporting the long‑term future of beef production in the South West.
The new facility has been three years in planning and construction and replaces infrastructure that had served the site for more than 40 years. It introduces modern technology, sealed handling systems and advanced odour control, significantly improving efficiency, reliability and environmental performance at the Harvey site.
Harvest Road Group CEO Harvey Gaynor said the project reflected the importance of the local community to the business and to Western Australia’s beef industry.
“This town is central to our operations at Harvest Road Group, and we value the strong relationship we have with the community and region,” Mr Gaynor said.
“While rendering often sits behind the scenes, it plays a critical role in supporting the responsible operation of a modern processing business. This facility strengthens the site as a whole and helps set it up well for the future.”
Harvest Road Group Chief Operating Officer – Processing Daniel Briggs said the facility represented a major step forward for how the site operates.
“What we have built here is a genuinely state‑of‑the‑art operation,” Mr Briggs said.
“The facility has the capacity to process up to 15 tonnes of animal by‑products per hour and has been designed to operate far more efficiently and reliably than before.”
Mr Briggs said the project was delivered while the processing plant continued to operate, reflecting a strong collective effort across the site.
Tattarang CEO John Hartman said the new facility was part of Harvest Road Group’s sustained investment in beef processing in Western Australia.
“Since acquiring the processing facility in 2014, we’ve invested more than half a billion dollars to build capacity, capability and resilience across the WA beef industry,” Mr Hartman said.
“That investment has been deliberate and long term, focused on strengthening processing infrastructure that supports producers, customers and regional communities.”
The official opening was attended by employees, suppliers, industry partners and members of the local community, followed by a guided tour of the new facility.
